How Should You Plan Parking and Charging?
Identify the parking space, preferred charger position and which vehicles will use it. Tell us whether the space is private, shared or part of a workplace. Include any landlord, leaseholder or site permission arrangements. Photos of the proposed position and the meter or distribution equipment help establish the next step.
Why Must the Electrical Supply Be Assessed?
A charger adds electrical demand. The proposed installation needs assessment of supply capacity, the existing installation, cable route and the required protection. Load management or other changes may be part of the proposal. A preferred charger make and model is useful information, but it does not replace the installation assessment.
What Network Notification or Approval Is Needed?
The Distribution Network Operator needs the relevant application or notification. Some installations require approval before connection. Eligible installations can follow a connect-and-notify process. Which route applies depends on the assessment; it should be clear in the proposed work rather than treated as an optional extra.
Which Documents Should You Receive?
For a new charging circuit, the handover should include the completed Electrical Installation Certificate and associated inspection and test results. A domestic installation in England may also require separate Building Regulations notification and the resulting paperwork. Charger instructions, product information, warranty details and a record of the network process help keep the installation record complete.
What Should the Handover Explain?
Ask how charging schedules and any load-management settings work, and who provides product support. App features and scheduling depend on the equipment and electricity tariff. Keep the installation and product records together. The detailed EV service page explains the checks and documentation IN-TECH manages within the agreed installation.
